Micromechanics-Unidirectional--In-plane Shear Modulus

The in-plane shear modulus is the coefficient in Young's stress-strain equation for shear. The in-plane shear modulus can be calculated by micromechanics or measured by ASTM standards referenced in the textbook. Currently, CADEC can calculate the in-plane shear modulus by two methods:

  • Cylindrical assemblage method (good but limited to laminas reinforced with isotropic fibers)
  • Periodic microstructure micromechanics (excellent for all the lamina properties, including laminas reinforced with anisotropic fibers such as carbon fibers)
