Failure-Truncated Maximum Strain

The truncated maximum strain is an improvement over the maximum strain criterion to take into account the reduction of strength in the second and fourth quadrants of strain space. There are two modalities, with and without matrix cutoff. Without matrix cutoff works for materials with fibers slightly more brittle than the matrix (e.g., carbon-epoxy). The matrix cutoff is used for materials with matrices more brittle than the fiber (e.g., glass-epoxy).
